I met British journalist Raphael Rowe watching the Netflix series he hosts, Inside the World's Toughest Prisons. I immediately felt like telling in the form of a comic book the backstage of that idea of staying incarcerated for a week, showing in fact what life is like for inmates in the most diverse prisons around the world.
This was one idea. The other was to explain how he, sentenced to life in prison for a crime he did not commit, managed to prove his innocence after 12 years in prison, becoming a famous communicator on British television.
We talked on Instagram, Raphael liked the idea, we decided to start by telling about his arrest in 1988. I drew ten preview pages based on the biography he was still writing, called Notorious. These are the pages you can see here.
